East Lansing, MI (Sports Network) - Troy Smith threw two touchdown passes to lead top-ranked Ohio State to a 38-7 pounding of Michigan State at Spartan Stadium. Smith went 15-for-22 with 234 yards and Antonio Pittman and Chris Wells added rushing touchdowns for the Buckeyes (7-0, 3-0 Big Ten), who have a nation-best 14-game winning streak. Drew Stanton went 8- for-16 with 54 yards and an interception and A.J. Jimmerson had a rushing touchdown for the Spartans (3-4, 0-3), who have lost their last four games after starting out the season with three straight wins.

Auburn, AL (Sports Network) - Tre Smith’s nine-yard return off a blocked punt fueled No. 11 Auburn as the Tigers held on to upset second-ranked Florida, 27-17. The Tigers (6-1, 4-1 SEC) did not score an offense touchdown in the game. Auburn used two defensive scores, a safety and four John Vaughn field goals to take the victory. Brandon Cox completed 18-of-27 passes for 182 yards for the Tigers, who bounced back after losing to an underrated Arkansas squad at home, 27-10, last week. Brad Lester added 94 yards rushing, while Courtney Taylor had five receptions for 37 yards. Chris Leak completed just 9-of-17 passes for 113 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Gators (6-1, 4-1), who lost for the first time in nine games dating back to last season. Percy Harvin had 66 rushing yards on five carries, while Dallas Baker had four receptions for 62 yards and a score.

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Chauncey Washington rushed 22 times for 108 yards, including the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter, as third- ranked Southern California survived a scare by beating Arizona State, 28-21, in Pac-10 action. John David Booty completed 12-of-25 passes for 148 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for the Trojans (6-0, 4-0 Pac-10), who extended their Pac-10 winning streak to 26 games and their home winning streak to 30 games. Dwayne Jarrett caught six passes for 60 yards and a touchdown for USC, while C.J. Gable ran for 26 yards and a score. Ryan Torain rushed 20 times for 57 yards and a touchdown, while also catching three passes for 39 yards for the Sun Devils (3-3, 0-3), who have dropped three straight conference games. Rudy Carpenter completed 12-of-21 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown for Arizona State.

University Park, PA (Sports Network) - Mike Hart ran for 112 yards and a touchdown as fourth-ranked Michigan bested Penn State, 17-10, at Beaver Stadium. Chad Henne completed 15-of-30 passes for the Wolverines (7-0, 4-0 Big 10), who remained undefeated and upped their record to 9-3 against Penn State. Adrian Arrington had five receptions for 83 yards and a TD, while Steve Breaston also had five receptions for 79 yards. Anthony Morelli completed 11- of-18 passes for 133 yards for the Nittany Lions (4-3, 2-2), who lost for the first time in three games. The Nittany Lions quarterback was knocked from the game early in the third quarter after what appeared to be a helmet- to-helmet hit from Alan Branch and did not return. His status is unknown. Tony Hunt rushed for 33 yards and added another 85 receiving yards with a touchdown.

Morgantown, WV (Sports Network) - Patrick White ran for four touchdowns and set a school and Big East record for quarterbacks with 247 rushing yards, leading fifth-ranked West Virginia to a 41-17 victory over Syracuse on Homecoming at Mountaineer Field. White, who ran for just four touchdowns in the first five games of the season, scored on runs of 69, 40, 32 and 12 yards. He also threw for 99 yards for the Mountaineers (6-0, 1-0 Big East) in their Big East opener. Steve Slaton added 163 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries for West Virginia, which finished with a whopping 457 rushing yards and outgained Syracuse overall 562-227. Perry Patterson threw a touchdown pass and also ran for a score for the Orange (3-4, 0-2), who have lost their first two conference games of the season and have dropped nine straight Big East tilts. It doesn’t get any easier for Syracuse, which hosts nationally-ranked Louisville next Saturday. Syracuse has been unable to stop the run in the past two weeks, as Pittsburgh rolled up 236 yards on the ground in a 21-11 triumph last week at the Carrier Dome.

Austin, TX (Sports Network) - Colt McCoy threw for 276 yards and six touchdowns as sixth-ranked Texas routed Baylor, 63-31. Limas Sweed and Billy Pittman each caught two touchdown passes for the Longhorns (6-1, 3-0 Big 12), who have won a league-record 18 straight Big 12 bouts, and have beaten its last 25 conference opponents at home. Peter Ullman and Jermichael Finley also caught touchdown passes for Texas. Shawn Bell completed 25-of-47 passes for 297 yards with two touchdowns for the Bears (3-4, 2-1), who lost to Texas for the ninth consecutive time. Trent Shelton caught six balls for 113 yards and a score, while Paul Mosley rushed five times for 64 yards and a touchdown.

Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - Brian Brohm threw for 324 yards and a touchdown as seventh-ranked Louisville hung on to beat Cincinnati, 23-17, at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium and captured the historic Keg of Nails trophy. Despite being listed as questionable prior to the game, Brohm returned for Louisville after missing the last two games. He injured the thumb on his right throwing hand in the Cardinals’ 31-7 victory over Miami on Sept. 16. After undergoing surgery the next day, Brohm was supposed to miss four-to-six weeks, but recovered quickly and returned to practice this past Monday. Gary Barnidge caught five passes for 96 yards and a touchdown for the Cardinals (6-0, 1-0), who opened Big East Conference play with a victory. Anthony Allen carried eight times for 25 yards and a touchdown while George Stripling added 27 yards on seven carries. Dustin Grutza went 10-of-27 for 129 yards and two touchdowns for the Bearcats (3-4, 0-2), and Greg Moore ran for 96 yards on 19 attempts. The game came down to one final play with nine seconds on the clock after the Bearcats orchestrated one final drive. But, on 4th-and-15 Grutza’s pass was nearly intercepted in the end zone and fell incomplete. Under head coach Bobby Petrino, the Cardinals came into the game off to their best start since 1993 and just one of a handful of undefeated teams.

Pullman, WA (Sports Network) - Marshawn Lynch rushed for 152 yards with a pair of touchdowns to guide 10th-ranked California past Washington State, 21-3, at Martin Stadium. Nate Longshore went 17-of-31 for 176 yards with a pair of interceptions but had a rushing touchdown for the Golden Bears (6-1, 4-0 PAC 10), who dropped Oregon 45-24 last week and have now won six straight. The normally high-powered Cal offense outgained the Cougars by only three yards, but the defense and special teams rose to the occasion to keep the Bears perfect in the conference. Robert Jordan had six catches for 56 yards in the win, while DeSean Jackson added four grabs for 60 yards. Darrell Hutsona netted 88 yards on the ground on just three carries for Washington State (4-3, 2-2), which has dropped two of its last three. Alex Brink ended 19-of-35 for 227 yards with an interception, and Gary Rogers also threw a pick and finished 2-of-6 for 35 yards.

Baton Rouge, LA (Sports Network) - Dwayne Bowe caught six passes for 111 yards and three touchdowns, as the 14th-ranked LSU Tigers routed the Kentucky Wildcats, 49-0, in SEC action. JaMarcus Russell completed 15-of-18 passes for 226 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Tigers (5-2, 2-2 SEC), who have split their last four games. Jacob Hester rushed for 44 yards on 13 carries with a pair of touchdowns. Charles Scott added 56 yards on nine carries. Andre Woodson completed 14-of-37 passes for 151 yards for the Wildcats (3-4, 1-3), who lost their second straight. Curtis Pulley rushed for just 32 yards on five carries, and Keenan Burton caught seven passes for 62 yards.

Bloomington, IN (Sports Network) - James Hardy caught eight passes for 104 yards with three touchdowns to lead the Indiana Hoosiers to a 31-28 upset victory over the 15th-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes in a Big Ten battle at Memorial Stadium. Kellen Lewis completed 19-of-25 passes for a career-high 255 yards with three touchdowns and ran for another score for the Hoosiers (4-3, 2-1 Big Ten), who have won two straight after losing three in a row. Indiana also snapped a three-game skid to Iowa, while winning for just the second time in its last nine within the conference. Drew Tate was 23-of-40 for 292 yards with a touchdown and a big interception, while Damian Sims carried the ball 22 times for 93 yards with two touchdowns for the Hawkeyes (5-2, 2-2 Big Ten), who had a two-game winning streak stopped.

Athens, GA (Sports Network) - Bryant Hahnfeldt kicked a 33-yard field goal with two seconds remaining to lift Vanderbilt to a stunning 24-22 victory over 16th-ranked Georgia at Sanford Stadium. Chris Nickson threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns for Vanderbilt (3-4, 1-3 SEC), which halted an 11-game series losing streak and beat Georgia for the first time since a 43-30 triumph at Athens in 1994. Nickson also led the Commodores with 59 rushing yards. Georgia (5-2, 2-2) has lost two in a row — both at home — after opening the season with five straight wins. The Bulldogs were coming off a 51-33 rout at the hands of Tennessee last week. Georgia’s two-quarterback rotation didn’t produce much offense, as Joe Tereshinski started and completed 11-of-17 passes for 151 yards with a touchdown. Matt Stafford finished 9-of-13 for 86 yards.

Fayetteville, AR (Sports Network) - Felix Jones rushed for 106 first-half yards and a touchdown, and Darren McFadden and Michael Smith each had two first-half scores to lead 17th-ranked Arkansas to a 63-7 win over I-AA Southeast Missouri State. Smith finished with 116 yards on eight carries and two touchdowns for Arkansas (5-1), which joined the rankings after its 27-10 win last week at Auburn. Twelve different Razorbacks carried the ball during the game for 381 yards. Arkansas returns to SEC play next week with a visit from Ole Miss. Southeast Missouri (3-3) will play host to Eastern Kentucky.

Eugene, OR (Sports Network) - Dennis Dixon completed 10-of-17 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns, as the 18th-ranked Oregon Ducks downed the UCLA Bruins, 30-20, in an important Pac-10 matchup. Jonathan Stewart rushed for 121 yards on 20 carries for the Ducks (5-1, 3-1 Pac-10), who have won five of six. Jeremiah Johnson rushed for 66 yards on 12 attempts with a touchdown, and Dixon added 69 rushing yards on 11 attempts. Brian Paysinger caught four passes for 105 yards, both career highs, and a score. Mike Goodson ended with 65 yards on the ground and scored the deciding touchdown for the Aggies (6-1, 2-1 Big 12), who edged Kansas last week. Stephen McGee was an efficient 19-of-23 for 183 yards with a touchdown, while Kerry Franks hauled in three receptions for 115 yards in the win. Chase Daniel finished 21-of-29 for 295 yards with a score for the Tigers (6-1, 2-1), who were coming off a 38-21 win over Texas Tech. William Franklin had four catches for 119 yards and a TD.

Nate Swift added 29 yards on two catches. Brandon Jackson rushed for 92 yards on 16 carries, and Marlon Lucky added 71 yards on 12 attempts with a score for the Huskers, who won their 800th game. Josh Freeman completed 23-of-47 passes for 272 yards with two interceptions for the Wildcats (4-3, 1-2), who have dropped three of four. Jermaine Moreira had six receptions for 86 yards, and Daniel Gonzalez caught four balls for 72 yards with a 38-yard run.

Norman, OK (Sports Network) - Adrian Peterson racked up 228 all-purpose yards and scored twice but suffered a broken collar bone late in the contest, as No. 23 Oklahoma eased past Iowa State, 34-9, in the Sooners’ Big 12 home opener. Peterson rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries and added three catches for 45 yards for Oklahoma (4-2, 1-1 Big 12), which was coming off a 28-10 loss at the hands of Texas. Peterson was injured on his 53- yard touchdown run with 6:38 left in the game, however, and head coach Bob Stoops said afterwards that his star running back might not return until a possible bowl game. Signal-caller Paul Thompson finished 16-of-27 for 195 yards with a pair of touchdown passes, both of which went to Malcolm Kelly. Bret Meyer, meanwhile, went 14-of-25 for 149 yards with a TD toss and two interceptions for the Cyclones (3-4, 0-3), who have dropped four of their last five contests. Todd Blythe had three receptions for 60 yards and a score, while Stevie Hicks led the rushing attack with 83 yards on 13 carries.

Annapolis, MD (Sports Network) - Mike Teel threw for 215 yards with three touchdowns and the Rutgers defense held the nation’s top-ranked rushing attack in check, as the 24th-ranked Scarlet Knights rolled to a 34-0 victory over Navy. Teel completed 15-of-26 passes and Ray Rice ran for 93 yards for Rutgers (6-0), which became bowl-eligible for the second straight year and continued its best start since the 1976 team finished 11-0. Navy (5-2) entered the game averaging 350.5 yards on the ground, but managed only 113 yards on 50 carries against a stingy Rutgers defense. Losing quarterback Brian Hampton to a dislocated left knee in the first quarter didn’t help. Hampton was the leading rusher for the Midshipmen and the key to their option offense, which didn’t function well after he left the contest. The game was scoreless when Hampton was carted off the field on a stretcher.

Madison, WI (Sports Network) - P.J. Hill rushed for a pair of touchdowns and John Stocco threw four touchdown passes to lead 25th-ranked Wisconsin to a 48-12 victory over Minnesota at Camp Randall Stadium. Hill, a redshirt freshman, rushed 25 times for 164 yards to surpass 1,000 yards for the season and Stocco completed 12-of-19 passes for 193 yards. The Badgers (6-1, 3-1 Big Ten) have won three straight in dominating fashion since a loss to Michigan, outscoring their last three opponents 141-38. Wisconsin scored two touchdowns in each of the first three quarters, while its defense controlled the Minnesota offense. Minnesota quarterback Bryan Cupito completed 13-of-28 passes for just 94 yards with one interception. Amir Pinnix ran for 97 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries for the Golden Gophers (2-5, 0-4), who have lost four in a row.
